Aim
To provide an introduction to Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and some of its key components. To give participants an understanding of DBT skills and how they may be useful in their daily practice with clients.

Overview
• Introduction to DBT model
• Selected Distress Tolerance skills
• Selected Emotion Regulation skills
• Validation
• Mindfulness as discussed in DBT

Note: Part Two of this course will be held in Term 4. This will be available to register online from August.

You will need to have attended Part One before attending Part Two.

Learning Intentions
Participants will be provided with the opportunity to:
Gain confidence in working with clients and managing difficulties with regulating emotions
Identify several key skills the clinician may be able to try with clients
• Encouraging participants to consider how they use validation with their clients
