Gain the knowledge and skills to use an evidence-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) model designed in a way that is fun and engaging for children and youth.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a longstanding, evidence-based, here and now talking therapy that works awesomely with children, youth and their whānau. The Skateboard Model was designed by facilitator, Nikki Coleman and her colleague Tania Cargo in 2006, adapted from Padesky’s five-part model. It is a great tool and metaphor to engage children and youth, helping them to understand their troubling issues and giving them tools that can help. Prior knowledge and training in CBT is beneficial but not a requirement.
