This workshop provides an overview and update of current approaches to working clinically with people with Co-Existing Mental Health and Substance Use Problems (CEP).

Develop skills and increase your knowledge around assisting individuals who present with alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues. Recognise problematic AOD use, understand the impact on the individual and whānau and how to access support services in Canterbury. 

Discover what synthetic drugs are currently available, what they are, how to recognise use and how they have come to be used so frequently in today's society. Learn about longer term effects and gain tools and strategies around harm minimisation.

Special Speaker Dr Valerie McGinn is presenting this seminar which aims to help participants recognise the signs and symptoms of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), understand how it is diagnosed and learn how to adapt treatment to the different needs of those with the neurodisability.
