Aim

If you’re keen to gain a wider and deeper understanding of neurodiverse children and how to provide support that brings out the best in them, this is the workshop to attend!

Overview

  • "What Neurodiversity is, and what it isn’t" – A comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of Neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD, and AuDHD) and how this may be expressed and experienced across the ‘spectrum’.

  • ‘The Behaviour Iceberg’ – How to make sense of what a child’s behaviour may be telling us about what they need.

  • ‘Traversing the Traffic Lights’ – Mapping the landscape of emotional and sensory regulation and co-regulation – How to understand, plan ahead, and support emotional and sensory processing needs.

  • ‘Building Bridges' – Neurodiversity-affirming practice’ - How to provide environmental and individual approaches which meet the needs of neurodiverse children.

Learning Intentions

  • Build understanding of characteristics of neurodiversity and how this can look, feel, and impact individuals in home and school environments.

  • To respectfully make sense of all the layers of meaning around behaviour, and how to respond in workable ways that meet the needs of our neurodiverse children at home and school.

  • To recognise what sensory and emotional processing looks and feels like for neurodiverse diverse individuals in different environments, and how to plan timely, supportive, respectful responses to their needs.

Who is this workshop aimed at?

Educators and Parents 

Facilitated by Juliana Edwards - Champion Centre

Juliana is a psychologist at the Champion Centre, with over 20 years of experience working in the disability sector. As a parent of 3 neurodiverse sons, Juliana is passionate about building awareness and understanding around neurodiversity, and empowering all those who work with neurodivergent individuals to provide strategies and environments that support everyone to do well.

Terms and Conditions

  • Cancellations made up to 10 working days before a workshop will incur a $39 service fee.

  • Cancellations (or non-attendance) made 10 working days or less will not be refunded and the full workshop fee will be charged. 

  • No fee applies if you are able to find a replacement participant.

  • MHERC reserves the right to cancel a workshop at any time due to unforeseen circumstances or insufficient registrations.

  • Only one person may view a webinar session per registration.
