Overview

This workshop explores how health determinants, legislation, and policy shape health outcomes. We'll examine the status quo of our health system, health legislation, and health policy, and how these relate to increased population health need. You'll gain a deeper clinical understanding of how these factors impact health, helping you identify and address related health needs in your practice. This kaupapa will support improved early intervention, intervention strategy, healthcare coordination, and health outcomes. 

Learning Intentions

  • Identify key determinants and factors associated with wellbeing, and examine relevant health legislation and policy within Aotearoa New Zealand's health system.

  • Learn how to identify and address health needs within your clinical practice.

  • Deepen your understanding of early intervention, intervention strategy, and health care coordination in improving health outcomes.

  • Apply safe and effective kaupapa across a wide range of clinical practice scopes and client presentations.

  • Gain practical insights to support more effective, informed, and equitable clinical practice.

Everyone working in a clinical practice environment who wants to deepen their understanding of health systems and policy, including general and allied health practitioners, social workers, counsellors, therapists, psychologists, practice managers, and community health workers.
