Aim

This workshop aims to improve clinical understanding of the determinants and and factors that impact health, as well as how to identify and address related health needs. This kaupapa is designed to improve early intervention, intervention strategy, health care co-ordination, and health outcomes. This course will also explore the status quo of our Health System, health legislation and health policy, and how this relates to the increased population health need.

 

Overview and Learning Intentions

An awareness of:

  • Relevant health legislation, health policy, and status of our health system.

  • Determinants and factors associated with wellbeing.

  • How to identity and address health need.

In addition to:

  • The importance of early intervention, intervention strategy, and health care coordination to address health need and improve health outcomes.

  • Develop understanding of kaupapa and tests designed to improve early intervention, intervention strategy, and health care coordination to address health need and improve health outcomes.

  • Apply safe and effective kaupapa to a wide range of clinical practice scopes.

  • Apply safe and effective kaupapa to a wide range of client presentations.


We also warmly encourage you to bring case studies to discuss (provided that appropriate permission has been obtained)

Kore is a Tipuna-led and hauora-focused Māori Physiotherapist with 27 years of clinical experience. At a young age, Kore was adopted by his kuia, Peggy Tombs, QSM, JP, who then raised him to appreciate and understand the values and beliefs of both Te Ao Maori and Te Ao Pakeha, and how to walk with mana in both worlds. Inspired by his kuia, Kore became a health practitioner and develop numerous roles across the breadth of Aotearoa New Zealand's health system toward health equity for Māori and high-need populations involving clinical practice, cultural advisor, governance, policy, research, advocacy, teaching, and ACC advocacy.

  • Cancellations made up to 10 working days before a workshop will incur a $39 service fee.

  • Cancellations (or non-attendance) made 10 working days or less will not be refunded and the full workshop fee will be charged. 

  • No fee applies if you are able to find a replacement participant.

  • MHERC reserves the right to cancel a workshop at any time due to unforeseen circumstances or insufficient registrations.

  • Only one person may view a webinar session per registration.
