An in-depth review of the four Pou of the Whare Tapa Wha Model involving Tinana, Hinengaro, Wairua, and Whanau, as well as the comparative concepts contained within health & well-being literature, the respective hierarchy of the 4 Pou, and integration of this into Clinical Practice.

Aim
This course aims to provide members of the public, healthcare workers, and service providers interested in Health and Well-being an opportunity for deeper understanding concerning both Western & Maori Health Models. The course begins by looking at the history of Health and Well-being, Matauranga Maori, and the Whare Tapa Wha Model, followed by an exploration & definition of the four Pou of the Whare Tapa Wha Model. The four Pou are then reviewed alongside the comparative concepts contained within health & well-being literature, followed by a discussion of the 4 Pou's respective hierarchy, and how to integrate this into clinical practice.

Kore is a Tipuna-led and hauora-focused Māori Physiotherapist with 27 years of clinical experience. At a young age, Kore was adopted by his kuia, Peggy Tombs, QSM, JP, who then raised him to appreciate and understand the values and beliefs of both Te Ao Maori and Te Ao Pakeha, and how to walk with mana in both worlds. Inspired by his kuia, Kore became a health practitioner and develop numerous roles across the breadth of Aotearoa New Zealand's health system toward health equity for Māori and high-need populations involving clinical practice, cultural advisor, governance, policy, research, advocacy, teaching, and ACC advocacy.
