New Zealand data shows that at some point, we are all likely to have close contact with someone experiencing a mental health challenge.
Mental Health First Aid is an internationally acclaimed and evidence-based, accredited training programme that empowers and equips individuals with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to support a co-worker, whānau member or friend experiencing a mental health challenge.
What you’ll gain:
• Develop your understanding of mental health and the factors that may affect wellbeing
• Learn to recognise signs that someone may be experiencing a mental health challenge
• Explore specific mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression (including suicide concerns), psychosis, substance misuse and trauma
• Gain the confidence to know how to initiate a conversation about mental wellbeing
• Learn how to provide support using a practical evidence-based action plan
• Gain an understanding of self-care and safety for mental health first aid responders
• Receive helpful takeaway resources
This programme has been informed by people with lived-experience as well as clinical and research experts. It is adapted to honour Aotearoa’s cultural context and is delivered by accredited instructors.

Anyone responsible for the wellbeing and health and safety of others, including; managers, team leaders, first responders, educators, coaches, leaders of faith communities, and anyone seeking skills to support others.
