Overview
Men can experience mental health differently from women - in the way they perceive wellbeing, experience distress, and seek and respond to help. In this focused workshop, we’ll explore how best to support men’s wellbeing, how to identify signs of distress, and how to engage in a way that resonates with men. You’ll leave more able to effectively support male clients, with a clear understanding of key themes and considerations around communication and response.
Learning Intentions
- Explore the specific demands and stresses for men in contemporary society and consider what constitutes wellbeing for men.
- Understand common signs and indicators of distress for men.
- Build your awareness of particular risk factors for men and understand pathways and barriers to help-seeking behaviour.
- Explore how to adjust your approach, language, and style to better engage with and support men, and review resources and strategies.
Who Should Attend?
Health and allied health practitioners, care and support workers in the health, mental health and social care sectors, and others who support men in their wellbeing and through times of challenge.
