This workshop will explore the way mindfulness can support personal and professional wellbeing, strengthen the therapeutic relationship and be incorporated into an integrated approach to facilitate positive change for service users.  It has a wide and inclusive focus that will outline many of the varied ways in which mindfulness can be employed.  The workshop is intended to provide a thorough basis that will enable participants to continue developing and employing mindfulness in their work.  It is anticipated that most participants will have had some previous exposure to mindfulness.   

• Briefly introduce mindfulness and outline its relevance to psychotherapy
• Use mindfulness to develop resilience for helping professionals
• Employ mindfulness to strengthen therapeutic relationship
• Outline various applications of mindfulness in psychotherapy, drawing largely from contemporary cognitive and behavioural therapies
• Use example cases to concretise learning and make it professionally relevant

Learning Intentions
Participants will be provided with the opportunity to:
• Develop an understanding of mindfulness and how it is useful in psychotherapy
• Reflect on how to strengthen their own mindfulness practice to build greater resilience and stability
• Learn how mindfulness can strengthen therapeutic and personal relationships
• Learn some of the important ways in which mindfulness can be used in psychotherapy to address a wide variety of presenting cases
