Aim
The aim of this workshop is to introduce mindfulness and its application in therapeutic settings. The workshop will focus on the ways in which mindfulness is able to strengthen the therapeutic relationship and facilitate positive change for service users.

Overview
• Defining mindfulness and outlining its theoretical foundations and evidence base
• Using mindfulness to strengthen therapeutic relationships and develop resilience
• Using mindfulness in contemporary cognitive and behavioural psychotherapies
• Building clients’ capacity to tolerate distress whilst working towards constructive change
• Exercises and case studies to concretise learning and make it personally and professionally relevant

Learning Intentions
Participants will be provided with the opportunity to:
• Learn how mindfulness can strengthen therapeutic relationships and help with professional self-care
• Learn how diverse psychotherapies use mindfulness to address a variety of presenting problems
• Consolidate their learning by engaging in experiential practices and role plays
