Aim
To give people who are working with, or coming into contact with, residents who hoard, tools and methods to effectively assist them to clear space in their home. Recently the prevalence of hoarding has become more noticeable through the need for residents to move out of their homes, and to invite social services into their homes where they previously have managed to stay private.

Learning Intentions
Participants will be provided with the opportunity to:
• Identify what hoarding is as opposed to someone who is disorganised and cluttered
• Develop an effective tool for assessing the needs of a hoarder
• Set out a treatment timetable involving client self-directed activities
• Identify effective tools to prevent relapse or the compulsive acquisition of items
