Aim
This workshop will expand participants’ knowledge of eating difficulties and disorders and provide insights and strategies for achieving effective therapeutic relationships. The workshop is aimed at any person providing therapeutic and support services.

Overview
• Understanding eating difficulties as socio-cultural phenomena
• Eating disorder classification and identification
• Christchurch treatment and referral basics
• Therapeutic approaches and interventions
• Some ideas about prevention

Learning Intentions
Participants will be provided with the opportunity to:
• Assess appropriate pathways for clients depending on level of severity of challenges with eating
• Better understand what constitutes an eating disorder and what treatments are available
• Develop more effective therapeutic relationships with their clients
