To show the effectiveness, value and improved outcomes when utilising Family Inclusive Practice in the ongoing recovery of a family member living with a major mental illness

• What is Family Inclusive Practice - history
• Guidelines and Legislations - family/whanau defined
• Families as partners in care - involvement of families and caregivers
• Barriers to engagement, emotional experiences and reactions

Learning Intentions
Participants will be provided with the opportunity to:
• Identify the significant social aspects in a client's life which can be utilised in partnership care
• Develop your skills in building a more meaningful and useful relationship with family and whanau
• Gain a greater understanding about the important role family can play in your client's ongoing care
• Learn about what support is available for families
